Asplenium nidus 'Crispy Wave' is a compact bird’s nest fern cultivar with stiff, curving fronds and a dense upright rosette. The fronds are lance-shaped, glossy and strongly waved, giving the plant a crisp green outline from every angle.

Fresh fronds rise from the centre as tight coils, then expand into narrow blades with curled margins. 'Crispy Wave' holds a firm, upright habit and compact outline in smaller pots.

Asplenium nidus 'Crispy Wave' features

  • Asplenium nidus cultivar selected for stiff, curvy fronds
  • Dense, bushy rosette with closely packed fronds
  • Glossy green, lance-shaped fronds with strongly waved margins
  • Slow-growing fern with a compact upright habit in indoor containers
  • Water around the substrate edge so standing moisture does not collect in the central crown

Asplenium nidus 'Crispy Wave' cultivar form

'Crispy Wave' is an Asplenium nidus cultivar from Japanese selection work. It has stiff, curving fronds, narrow waved blades and a compact, dense rosette.

All fronds emerge from a central bird’s-nest crown. Fresh growth emerges tightly from the centre, so debris or standing water in the crown can mark soft new fronds.

Asplenium nidus 'Crispy Wave' care tips

  • Light: Grow in bright indirect or medium filtered light. Strong direct sun can mark or scorch the waved fronds.
  • Watering: Keep the substrate lightly moist and evenly hydrated. Water around the potting mix, leaving the central crown open and airy.
  • Substrate: Use an airy fern mix with fine bark, coco fibre, perlite and a moisture-retentive component. The mix should drain freely after watering.
  • Humidity: Maintain moderate to high humidity while new fronds unfurl. Very dry heated air can brown the rippled margins.
  • Temperature: Keep in stable warmth, ideally around 18–26 °C. Protect from cold drafts and cold windowsills in winter.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth. Use a diluted fertiliser and monitor for salt build-up, which can show quickly on the frond tips.
  • Potting: Choose a pot with drainage and keep the crown above the mix. Oversized pots hold wet substrate around the small root ball for too long.
  • Cleaning: Dust can collect along the waves. Clean mature fronds gently with a soft damp cloth and avoid rubbing new growth.
  • Propagation: Commercial propagation is specialist work, and home propagation from spores is slow. Grow it as a single rosette plant.

Asplenium nidus 'Crispy Wave' issues

  • Brown rippled edges: Check for dry air, inconsistent moisture, mineral residue or fertiliser strength. Stabilise care before trimming.
  • Soft centre: Water may be sitting in the crown. Keep the centre clear, increase airflow and water only the substrate.
  • Weak new fronds: Low light or depleted substrate can slow growth. Move to brighter filtered light and feed lightly during the growing season.
  • Marked frond surface: Direct sun, rough handling or chemical leaf products can damage the glossy surface.

Asplenium nidus 'Crispy Wave' growing notes

New fronds emerge from the centre and gradually build the compact rosette. The upright waved fronds remain visible in small to medium containers.

Asplenium nidus 'Crispy Wave' household safety

Asplenium nidus 'Crispy Wave' is generally treated as a non-toxic ornamental fern. Place it away from repeated chewing and keep the crown free from fallen debris.

Asplenium nidus 'Crispy Wave' name and botanical background

Asplenium comes from the historic spleenwort name, while nidus means nest in Latin and refers to the rosette form of bird’s nest ferns.

Top tier gaming monitor
Size: 32-inch
This monitor is the best of its class. The picture on it is better compared to its competitor, the LG ultra gear. The monitor allows you to maximize your Series X refresh rate. The HDR mode is actually brighter than statistics would give it credit for. LG's model has the same nits (300) but this literally just looks better. I just wish the stand was different, it could go without being completely plastic and awkward and non-adjustable. It has the proper mounting holes however so that it may be mounted.

Great monitor but not the monitor stand
Size: 32-inch
Overall, this is a very good monitor for the price. The picture quality is excellent, and the difference compared to my previous 27-inch 1080p monitor is immediately noticeable. The curved screen adds to the viewing experience, and there are plenty of settings available to customize the display, including good brightness options. My main complaint is the stand. It feels a bit cheap due to its plastic construction and lack of adjustability. Considering the quality of the monitor itself, a better stand would have been nice. The monitor does not include built-in speakers, which wasn't an issue for me but may matter to some buyers. Despite the stand, this monitor offers great value and delivers excellent overall performance.

Great for Videos and browsing
Size: 32-inch, Size: 32-inch
I did not buy this for gaming. I wanted a second monitor to browse while playing video games. With that being said it has great picture and doesn’t have any issues with refresh or delivering crisp picture quality. YouTube videos at 4K resolution is almost perfect. Its functions are user friendly and not complicated at all. The stand is rather long because of it being 32” and curved but it is strong and stable. It was super simple to connect and had no issues with compatibility with my PC. I wouldn’t use this for gaming especially if your running a high performance GPU. I’d spend a few hundred more for a better performing monitor

Great Monitor, poor VESA mount.-Updated
Size: 32-inch, Size: 32-inch
Great Monitor, love to give it five stars except for the non-standard VESA mount. The VESA mount plate just won't work with out major modification, or a adapter bracket that slots into were the stand is connected. Then there is the fact that the cheapest adapter on amazon is on sale for just slightly less than half of what I paid for my dual arm stand. I'm not a monitor expert so I can't speak to any technical aspects, but I can tell you I love it . Its crisp and the details with full ray tracing look amazing. Got one for the wife as well She's got a 9070xt GPU and I'm running a RTX3080 and this monitor does them full justice as far as my eyes can tell. Update: I was going to just live with the stand for this thing...Thing is my desk faces an open room, with dogs, Cats and grand kid the potential for my monitor to fall of the desk was too great. So first I was going to buy an adapter but wouldn't you know, I can't find one. Samsung can't even manage to have the same VESA mounts on their own monitors. So pictured is my own adapter, No problem, just a drill, jigsaw, circular saw, some spare long VESA screws, wood screws, and a piece of reclaimed 3/4 inch plywood and a bit of foam padding (for spacing just a little insurance that the wood screws wouldn't get though to the monitor) Tempted to drop the rating to 3 stars but I really like the graphics on this thing. Would I buy it again...Not sure, I love Samsung products but I don't want to go though this little adventure again.
