But when the Piaget name was displayed on a dial, the brand embodied a distinguishable lavish style that became synonymous with a period of opulence, representative of the 1960s and 1970s. Their stunning creations were worn by icons of style – Andy Warhol, Roger Moore, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and Elvis Presley, to name but a few.
This Reference 13432 dates to the 1970s and is housed in a 33mm x 31mm 18k yellow gold ‘television’ style cushion case that features beautiful chamfered edges and a stepped bezel. Its sunburst champagne dial features applied gold tone indices, a ‘dauphine’ handset, a date window at 3 o’clock and a stylized Piaget wordmark printed at 12 o'clock. Powered by a micro rotor automatic movement, this thin-profile Piaget wears larger - and smacks harder on the wrist - than its case dimensions would suggest!
Artistically expressive 1960s and 1970s pieces from Piaget - okay, all pieces from Piaget - are having a moment and this particular example has all the hallmarks of a great vintage piece; an honest case and excellent dial, impressive thinness, and fab style for days.
